I am running a small cycling trip on Sunday the 1st of March, the afternoon before semester starts. Come and celebrate your last seconds of freedom (yeah, right) before semester starts by taking in some of Newcastle's superb cycleways and/or off-road trails.
We will depart from the gearstore at 3pm on the dot (get there 15 mins early!) and pedal our way to the Fernleigh track. We will follow this track through the old train tunnel to the Burwood Road carpark in Glenrock. Here we will hop off the road and complete a circuit or two (or five
Difficulty can be adjusted to suit the riders on the day but beginners are welcome (encouraged even!). Glenrock is not extremely hard but there are portions which will test all levels of ability so if you are not confident off road please let someone know on the day.
The first leg (gearstore -> Burwood Road carpark) is entirely on road and the second part (in Glenrock) is entirely off road. Thus, if people have a preference for either style of riding they can simply meet us for the appropriate section. If there are people who want to start at the carpark could you please PM or email me (glen.shennan@gmail.com) so that I know to look for people there. Also, if their are roadies who are keen to come for a lazy Sunday pedal they can leave us at the carpark and continue along the (paved) Fernleigh track. Note though that this is strictly a XC ride so unless you have those good-for-nothing skinny tires
If you don't have a bike we may be able to organise one from the club. Please PM or email me well in advance of the day if you do want to hire one.
Numbers are in no way limited but if you want to confirm that you will be attending then I'll be less likely to leave you at the gearstore when no one else shows up.
Hope to see a few people out Sunday!
Glen
