Yeah. Will definitely look into that Neil Dickinson award.

What if you already get a scholarship from the Uni though?

Leith that won't matter. All you need to do is find a course & how much it is gonna cost. Get committee approval for the NJ award. Fill in a form and give it to Andrew Yapp at NUSport and you should get your money pronto (might have to pay up front for the course and then get reimbursed).

Also if you want to go on a course with just club members find one or two others to do it with you. Most of the guides will do the course with a 2:1 or 3:1 ratio.

Leith, if you're looking for people to do a course with I'd definitely be keen, especially if it's subsidised

Leith/Nick,
I'm keen to do this too! Not sure if I'm still compliant with the award's criteria (I've deferred my masters for little too long) but I'll pay for it myself.

Cheers!

Sweet. That's our 3 then.

Will just have to find a suitable time to do it.

Might even be able to have the course coincide with a NUMC run trip to the same area.

I'm thinking the semester uni break. But, since it's only 2 days... we could do it on a weekend early on in the semester to make it easier to organise.

Sounds good.

What's the link?

Won't be as keen if the teacher/student ratio is really high though.

Hey Steve,

My number is 0423298983.

Checking out that deal now.

I think I'd rather do the Rock II course though.

Pete and Gez already ran through alot of the stuff that is going to be in the Rock I course. Did you goto Monkey Face with the club at the start of the year?

They went through basics like anchoring points, abseiling devices, common knots, prussik climbing and probably some other important stuff that I've forgotten. To be able to do the Rock II course you'd need someone to be a reference for you to say that you know most of the basics.

Cheers.
