Mt Royal Bush Walk 9th May

Postby SPS » Wed Apr 29, 2009 4:11 pm

Would anyone be keen to do one of the Hunters Best day walks on May 9, 2009. Its out past Singleton and is pretty spectacular. We would have to meet very early (6:30am). The walk takes about 6 hours (including breaks) and we could go to the farm party at Kate Wrights place for dinner/camping and fun?!

I have only done this walk once so not heaps keen to take only beginners but I should be okay. I will try to scratch up on my compass use.

If your considering...you will need to bring a rain jacket, warm clothing, decent shoes, lunch, snacks. Money for petrol, possibly a car if you have access to it.

Cheers for running this sonia.

Don't stress out about the navigation too much, once you find the ridge you can't get lost as it is razor sharp :)

Also want to check the access to the carpark with the ranger as sometimes you need a 4x4.

there was a photo of me & my oldman on the park info sign taken when i was about 10, I wonder if its still there?

If you are 2 hours into a trip and get bitten by a snake, you have 8 hours before you die. So you have nothing to worry about. Just get yourself bandaged up, sit back and relax and enjoy the view until you are rescued. This is for a brown snake and if you are bitten on a limb, other types of snakes are also serious but you probably have longer before you will die. If you are bitten anywhere else besides a limb, you're a little bit more up shit creek but it is very unlikely this would occur.

I am not sure about trains for those wanting to go home saturday arvo, check cityrail to find out.
