Bungonia Caves 22-24th May

Grade: Intermediate

Location: Bungonia Caves (near Goulburn)

When: Leave friday arvo early as people can manage, return sunday night

What: This will be a largely vertical caving weekend so all participants need to be competent with their rope skills. You must be comfortable abseiling, using ascenders, and have some basic knowledge of self rescue techniques. it is also reccomended that you have had some prior cave experience but not essential. If you are interested in this trip but do not feel confident with your rope skills then contact me as soon as possible and we can arrange some training either at the gear store, in the gym or on an outdoor climbing trip between now and then.

Numbers will be limited by number of confident cave leaders willing to come but most likely there will be a limit of 8 people.

All members wishing to attend must read and complete the beginners theory and quizzes for caving and abseiling. These are available on the forum at

I have never been there so not sure how many tight spots there will be but from what I have heard you should be ok, talk to aidan if your concenered he has been there a couple of times and probably has a better idea of it all than i do.

I just found out I've got a touch footy grand final on the 24th. So if we make it to the final (highly possible I think) then I won't be able to come on the trip.

and Leo, u should b ok, we will push u thru. as long as ur comfortable with abseiling and prussiking in the dark thru a moderately sized hole u will b fine.
in other words u should definitely come if ur keen!

ah fair enough kerry, we'll wait and see i guess you could still go down after the game if you were interested but im guessing drinking would also be fairly high on the agenda so up to you.
