Getting
Started
Why go on a trip?
Shared adventures are fun, challenging and teach you many things.
Trips are the lifeblood of the Club and the reason we all keep returning
each year.
How to find out what's going on
Each quarter we produce a newsletter
called the Watson. It details the coming trips, including date, grade,
trip leaders name and contact number.
Impromptu trips are advertised through the mailing list, and by word
of mouth, so keep your ears open to find out about these trips.
How to get on a trip
Contact the trip leader listed in the Watson. Trip leaders are always
willing to help so dont hesitate to call with questions. Some
trips have limited numbers and are generally advertised as such, so
call early in these cases to avoid disappointment.
What do you need?
If you dont have access to your own equipment almost everything
can be borrowed from the gear
store. What you need for a trip will vary and each trip leader
will be able to give you details.
Generally you are responsible for organising your own personal equipment
such as tents, sleeping bags, stove, clothes, food etc. Trip leaders
organise all the technical equipment, such as ropes, caving ladders
or kayaks.
What if I'm not fit?
The grading of difficulty of each trip is listed on the Newsletter
under the heading of each trip. The grades are designed to tell you
what to expect on the weekend. |
